ABSTRACT
Blood and saliva samples were collected from 44 Saimiri boliviensis peruviensis, eight S. sciureus macrodon and 41 S. b. peruviensis - S. s. macrodon hybrids. Saliva samples were tested for human ABH antigens by a conventional hemagglutination inhibition test. The results were the following for S. b. peruviensis and S. s. macrodon, respectively: A - 32, 2; B - 1.0; AB - 11, 6. Sera samples were used for detecting natural antibodies. A high frequency of discrepancies was found among the two species in relation to serum and saliva phenotypes.
Keywords: ABO blood groups; peruvian squirrel monkeys.
