ABSTRACT
Progenies of 9 plants of Relbunium hypocarpium (Rubiaceae) collected at different localities in Brazil and Argentina were studied for EST and/or PER patterns by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. From one strain, about 800 seedlings of 3 generations (F1, F2 and F3) were analyzed for one (EST) or 4 enzyme systems: EST, PER, ACP and GOT. From this same strain, isoesterases of F1 plants at different ontogenetic stages were also analyzed. In all cases, sibs at the same ontogenetic stage always showed identical isoenzyme patterns when the same tissue at the same stage of maturation was analyzed, showing absence of structural and also regulatory gene segregation. The results indicate that Relbunium hypocarpium is an autogamous species.
Keywords: isoenzyme; plants; Relbunium hypocarpium.
