Genetic analysis of cell division mutants dv1211 and ad651 of Escherichia coli k12

ABSTRACT
The DV1211 and AD651 mutant strains of Escherichia coli K12 are temperature-sensitive filament-forming mutants mapped at 0 and 3.5 minutes, respectively. Filaments formed at 42°C take about 30 minutes at 30°C to recover cell division ability and this property is chloramphenicol sensitive. These mutants show a common alteration in their protein membranes that seems related to a phenotypic character of this mutation.
