ABSTRACT
In the present paper we studied the discriminatory power of four different methods currently used for the dermatoglyphic diagnosis of Down's syndrome.
We conclude that any one of the four methods can be applied indifferently to a subject suspected of having Down's syndrome, since the overall efficacy of all of them is practically the same.
We also present probability tables for immediate use giving the conditional chances of having Down's syndrome as a function of the observed score of any of the indices.
Keywords: dermatoglyphic; diagnosis; down's syndrome.
