Citogenetica de leguminosas coletadas no estado do Ceara (Cytogenetics of leguminosae collected in the state of Ceará)

ABSTRACT

This paper deals with a study of chromosome numbers of 16 Leguminosae species belonging to 9 genera collected in the State of Ceará, Brazil. A table showing the herbarium voucher, chromosome numbers, likely ploidy level, collecting sites and previous reports for all species is presented, as well as photographs of the chromosomes. The chromosome numbers of ten species are reported for the first time, the chromosome numbers of five confirm previous reports, and for one, Anadenanthera macrocarpa, the number is not consistent with previous counts. The relationship between the chromosome numbers reported in this paper and the basic numbers suggested by other authors for the tribe and, in some cases, for the genus, is discussed.
