ABH salivary antigens in a population of capuchin monkeys (Cebus apella paraguayanus)from Paraguay

ABSTRACT
Blood and saliva samples were collected from 55 capuchin monkeys that had been wild-caught in Santa Catalina (Republic of Paraguay). The saliva samples were tested for human ABH antigens by standard agglutination-inhibition tests. All samples tested were of the A phenotype. Serum samples were tested for the presence of anti-A and anti-B agglutinins. Fifty percent of samples showed anomalous combinations of salivary antigens and serum agglutinins.
