ABSTRACT

A sample of 120 twin pairs were analyzed for 35 dermatoglyphic variables (palmar and digital). The zygosity was determined through seven genetic markers (ABO, MNSs, Rh, Duffy, P, Kell, and serum haptoglobins) and a similarity questionnaire. A discriminant analysis was performed on the within-pair difference of the dermatoglyphic variables, and fifteen of these variables were selected in a function by the stepwise method. This function permitted classifying 100% of the twin pairs studied in a correct zygosity, showing the effectiveness of this methodology.

Keywords: twin; zygosity; dermatoglyphic.
