Two new cases of zz/zw heterogamety in Leporinus (Anostomidae, Characiformes) and their relationships in the phylogeny of the group

ABSTRACT

Two new cases of ZZ/ZW cytological heterogamety in the genus Leporinus are described, and the possibility that this group consists of different cytogenetic units that may reflect on the phylogeny of the group is discussed.
