ABSTRACT
The mechanism of non-MHC-linked genetic control of the magnitude of the anti-F antibody response in mice was investigated. The use of alum + Bordetella pertussis instead of Freund's as adjuvant, as well as immunization through the hind footpads as opposed to intraperitoneal injection, reverted the low responsive phenotype in B10.A mice. Cell transfer experiments showed the presence of suppressor T cells in low responder B10.A mice and (CBA x DBA/2)F1 hybrids. Taken together, these results indicate that the non-MHC genes control the magnitude of the anti-F response by regulating the differentiation or expression of suppressor T cells in low responder mice.
Keywords: suppressor cells; non-mhc-linked; geneticcontrol;F antigen.
